Emergency Cold Weather Shelter
During the winter months, Allegheny County has a Emergency Cold Weather Shelter system which goes into effect when the weather is 25 degrees or colder. All who are homeless can go to the main shelter at Smithfield United Church in downtown Pittsburgh. After they have a meal, we bring our van to the shelter and bring the homeless women to the Shepherd's Heart church building. They sleep in our basement area. The female staff help by providing sleeping mats, pillows and snacks. We can help share the love of Jesus, who ministered to the broken and the hurting.
